Fees & Medicare
Fees
Sessions are 60 minutes in duration and cost $200. Currently both face-to-face and video sessions are available. Fees are payable at the time of consultation, and EFTPOS and HICAPS facilities are available. There is no need for a referral for an appointment (unless you are coming under Medicare), so simply call to discuss making an appointment.
Medicare rebate
If you have a valid referral letter and a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your General Practitioner, Medicare covers $141.85 per 50-minute session for a maximum of 10 sessions per calendar year. The referral letter must be addressed to the treating psychologist, must state that the patient can be seen under the Mental Health Treatment Plan, and must specify the number of sessions of treatment (up to a maximum of six sessions per referral). Provided you have a Medicare card and a physical debit card, the Medicare rebate can be claimed in the session after full payment.
No Bulk-Billing
This practice does NOT offer bulk-billing. There are a number of larger practices that bulk-bill and it is suggested that you call around to find which practices offer this fee arrangement.
Private Health Insurance
If you have extras cover, you may be able to claim part of the fees back from your health fund. In many cases, this can significantly reduce the cost of sessions. Since the amount you can claim back varies from fund to fund, and from cover to cover, it’s often good to check your entitlements with your health fund before commencing therapy. However, you cannot use your private health cover to top up the Medicare rebates for these services. You will need to choose whether you want to claim through your Private Health Fund or through Medicare.
Cancellation Policy
I respect my time and yours. Therefore I ask that you provide a business day’s notice to cancel a session. If your appointment is on a Monday, please cancel on the Friday. Missing a session without the specified notice will incur a fee of $100.
